How Do I Lose Weight And Keep It Off?

29. June 2017 By Betty Johnson 20 Comments

Losing weight is a major challenge for most people, but if you’ve already lost weight, then a bigger challenge awaits you.

Did you know average person gains at least 1-2 pounds a year?

Well, that must be worrying for most people, but the GOOD NEWS is that eating just 100 calories a day or fewer is enough to avert that weight gain.

However, if you’re finding this a little late, you MUST slash about 500 calories per day. I know some people are already saying this is way too much to slash in a single day.

You don’t have to do it all from your plate?

You can do this by eating 250 calories less and losing the rest through workouts and other weight loss plans out there. You might not expect big changes immediately, but small tweaks will eventually pay off.

Now, how do you about losing that weight and keeping it off permanently?

This article will look at some very simple ways to DROP THE POUNDS and keep them off completely.

Ways To Lose Weight And Keep It Off

No single weight loss book will help you lose weight permanently. Truth be told, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution for losing weight permanently in a healthy way.

Most weight plans out there will tell you to eat less and workouts more, cut out the carbs and even lower your fat intake.

So, what do you believe in?

What works for one person might not work for you. Our bodies usually respond differently to health factors, genetics, and foods.

Learn How To Find A Weight Loss Method That Works For You

The way to go is to find a weight loss method that works for you and sticking to it. There is not stopping when it comes to weight loss and saying you’re fully fit now. You must keep working to ensure you don’t gain weight again.

Get a diet plan that works for you and stick to it. Losing weight requires commitment, patience, sacrifice, and experimentation.  Before choosing a weight loss plan, learn to know the strategies the weight loss plan uses.

Some of the popular strategies for weight loss out there include:

  • Cutting down calories
  • Cutting down the carbs
  • Cutting down on your fat intake
  • Practicing mindful eating
  • Intermittent fasting

Knowing the strategies your diet plan uses will help you achieve your weight goals fast.

Often cited statistics show that over 90% of the people that lose weight end up gaining it within a few years. The difficult part is sticking to the LONG-TERM weight management plans.

Here are 6 tips to help you keep weight off permanently after achieving your weight loss goals:

  1. Visit the vending machine more often
Going to a vending machine with single servings is way better than digging your way into a restaurant with all manner of foods. This helps prevent the temptation of taking more or what you had not planned to take.
  2. Start your meals with a salad
Start your meals with LOW-FAT and low-calorie salads to avoid eating more of the meals with high calories. People who start their meals with a salad end up taking 10% fewer calories than their counterparts who eat their meals first.
  3. Watch your coffee intake
Coffee is a favorite drink for many people looking to boost their energies and moods. However, this fancy drink contains as many calories as an entire lunch. Make sure you cut down on the amount of coffee you take in a day.
  4. Walk and talk
How often do you get to talk on the PHONE while walking? When your phone rings, slip on your walking shoes and stroll around instead of talking while seated. Doing this 10 minutes per day will help you burn 1000 CALORIES A MONTH without even noticing.
  5. Avoid excessive watching of TV
A high number of the people that regain weight are those that watching television for long hours. You need to remain physically active for long hours to be able to keep off the weight. Instead of TV, look for other fun activities that involve moving.
  6. Step on the weighing scale regularly
When was the last time you checked your weight? Very few people make weighing a daily practice. Making this a HABIT will help you detect small weight changes and take appropriate actions.

Conclusion

Losing weight not only brings your body to that desired SHAPE but also helps fight off common health issues.

There is no need to sacrifice a lot and LOSE WEIGHT and then end up gaining it within a short period. Make sure you stick to your weight loss plans and keep looking for new information daily on how to keep off the weight.

I agree with what you mentioned that a lot of people who lose weight gains it back within a few years. I’m one of those people– I could stick to a diet plan, sure, but only temporarily until I got to my desired weight. Keeping at it permanently, that’s the problem.

Thanks for the insight, losing weight and keeping fit is a key to living long and well. The most important thing is consistency and determination because, some people start but can’t keep up and they later end up even adding more weight than they started

I cut down my carb and meat intake and lost a few pounds in just a week. Losing weight is really more like all about discipline. So you have to know how to restrain yourself from eating unhealthy food.

When it comes to loosing weight the best policy is just eating healthy and moderately. I would not recommend going to the vending machine regularly as compared to visiting a restaurant and get yourself a healthy plate of food.

If someone follows the above tips for the whole of this year I bet next year a time like this there will be noticeable changes. It is about time we tried something else other than working out to lose weight.

Intermittent fasting has worked for me. I used to always feel hungry all the time. I feel an overall positive change in my mind and body when I started intermittent fasting.

Okay, so next time I really have to start my meal with salad. That’s the best advice, by far and I get why. Then walk and talk. You will never notice you are actually exercising when your mouth and mind are busy talking and thinking.

My weight gain is not through watching TV for long hours. I have this hormonal problem because of my thyroid issue. I am trying to eat food with more fibers instead and stay away from eating a lot. I tend to eat a lot when there’s good food! 😀
