Smoothies for Detox:
5 Best Ingredients to Use

14. September 2016 By Betty Johnson 24 Comments

Detox is here to stay. Even if it has already been around for several years, it still remains popular today. This is a proof that it is not only a fad.

WHY IS IT POPULAR?

Well, one of the reasons would be because it is EFFECTIVE. If you ask around from those who have tried it before, you will be overwhelmed with words of praises. This is good for a better overall health, and most of all, for weight loss.

To be engaged in an detox program, you can consider drinking smoothies, specifically those with the ingredients that will be mentioned in the rest of this post:

1.) KALE
Known as one of the healthiest food, kale will let you prepare smoothie that is loaded with chlorophyll and fibre, which will be both instrumental in allowing the body to get rid of toxins.

Aside from being rich in fibre, it is also low in calorie and has zero fat, making it perfect for those who are interested in losing weight. The high sulphur content can also make it effective for detox, especially for the health of your liver.

2.) GINGER
This is another popular option when it comes to body cleansing. Add it in your smoothie and you can enjoy a wide array of benefits. It aids in proper digestion, which is one of the reasons why it is good for weight loss.

To add, it is also filled with anti-inflammatory compounds, and it can help in the prevention of having an upset stomach. It has also been asserted to be vital in promoting proper blood circulation.

3.) APPLE
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. With this, adding it in your detox smoothie will surely deliver an abundance of benefits. It has a highly soluble fibre known as pectin, which is instrumental in absorbing toxins and making sure that they will be kept out of your body.

More than its benefits for your health, apples are good because they can make your smoothie taste naturally sweet. There is no need for artificial sugar.

4.) PINEAPPLE
This delicious fruit can add a strong flavour to your smoothie while being able to enjoy tons of benefits as well.

It contains bromelain, an enzyme that can CLEANSE the colon and promote better digestion. For the best flavour, other ingredients that can best complement pineapple in your smoothie include cucumber, ginger, or blueberry.

5.) YOGURT
This is another excellent ingredient for a detox smoothie, which is known for its unique flavour. It does not only make your drink creamy but will also add a distinct texture.

Using non-fat yogurt is a good idea to help make a smoothie that can aid in weight loss. It has probiotics, the bacteria that will be needed for the optimal functioning of your digestive tract.

Thanks

Betty

Thank you for sharing this! I just started to make some smoothies at home, and have also been thinking it’s time for me to do a detoxing as I have been falling sick quite frequently lately. I didn’t know we can add ginger into smoothies, though I know ginger is very good for health. I will give it a try as ginger is one of my favorites.

Besides kale (which I hate), all these are good and delicious ways to detox the body. I find mixing apple and ginger in some way to be a very delicious combination.

I have read a few things about smoothy and logically it sounds perfect and good, but have not tried one. I have also gone through a medical news, which says that a glass of smoothy in the morning instead of a cup of tea/coffee will bring your blood sugar under control. Great! If it works.

I have a health wise mum who makes us take smoothies at home while on holidays. I know how beneficial they can be and some are usually tasty contrary to the belief held by many that they don’t appeal to the tounge.

I am a lover of pineapples. I eat kales as vegetable dish rather than smoothy so i think i should give it a try and enjoy more benefits.
